The Los Angeles chapter of the Institute for International Film Financing (IIFF) continues its popular monthly gatherings at the junction of film & finance with a special Film Financing Townhall at the renowned Columbia College. Their facilities are conveniently located just off Melrose Avenue in Hollywood.

This grassroots community get-together is designed to foster & inform productive relationships between attendees. It provides unbiased insight & education about the business of film and film financing in particular. The event features a powerful roster of highly topical speakers from the filmmaking and financial industries. We are delighted to welcome real-world financiers among our guests!

The evening's six presentations plus panel discussion address key issues relevant to filmmakers, financiers and anyone interested in the economics, business mechanics, and financial dynamics of motion pictures. They are followed by Q&A time. Attendees also have ample opportunity to interact & network with our featured experts and amongst themselves.

An informal après-meeting celebration will take place at a nearby restaurant.

Over the course of his career, Brad has worked with some of the most exciting startups in Northern and Southern California, among them such runaway successes as YouTube. Pursuing his love for the arts and film in particular, he co-founded DAP Studios in Los Angeles and has so far produced one feature-length movie, which was shot in New Mexico. The film recently won several festival prizes including the prestigious New Mexico Filmmaker Award. Brad believes in public service and actively supports many nonprofits. Host logoThis month's Film Financing Townhall in Los Angeles is hosted by the esteemed Columbia College, whose five-week "Semester in L.A." immersion program takes place in Hollywood. With more than 120 programs of study and nearly 12,000 students, Columbia College Chicago is the largest and most diverse private arts and media college in the United States. Occupying 22 buildings in the heart of Chicago's South Loop, Columbia nurtures the nation's largest concentration of young creative talent. In addition to a solid academic foundation, students gain real-world experience through internships and part-time jobs in one of America's most dynamic and vibrant cities.

Very special thanks for making this event possible go to Jon Katzman, the Executive Director of Columbia's Semester in L.A.. The program offers select students highly intensive coursework, helps them rise to the top of an extremely competitive market, and provides a rare opportunity to experience the business of Hollywood first hand on a studio lot with industry professionals. Classes are held at the historic Raleigh Studios complex, Hollywood's oldest and longest continually-operated movie studio. Many graduates have gone on to work in production offices, on TV shows, at talent agencies and on film sets.

Joe Woolf

Speaker headshot 1is the Head of Media and Entertainment Finance at OneWest Bank, the largest southern California retail banking and lending institution. Joe previously worked as a Managing Director for both CarVal Investors and Citibank, specializing in entertainment finance. He has 25 years of experience in the banking and finance industries, with a focus in entertainment for the majority of that time. Kenneth Segura Knoll

Speaker headshot 2is Managing Partner and Producer at Turquoise Trail Films, LLC., he is responsible for the day to day operation of the company and generally oversees capital raising, project selections and management, contract negotiations, foreign sales and domestic distribution. Kenneth is the Founder and Executive Producer of Southwest Communication Services (SCS) Inc., 1983-present, a media and entertainment company with vast experience in addressing the media communication needs of education, government, and corporate clients. He is also the Founder of the Sacremento Festival of Cinema and acted as the Director of the organization from 1995 to 2000. Nicholas Anglewicz

Jeff Gonzalez

Speaker headshot 5With nearly two decades of experience in corporate finance and accounting, Jeff has an impressive track record for successfully building, strengthening and leading both privately and publicly traded entertainment corporations. A seasoned entertainment executive with a career spanning over 18 years, he has lead the financial operation of four publicly traded entertainment companies, including Trimark Holdings, Inc., National Lampoon, Inc. and Interplay Entertainment, and was also an officer at Morgan Creek Productions. Jeff was instrumental in the sale of Trimark to Lionsgate in 2000. Additionally, Jeff has established or facilitated various debt and equity structures for both corporate and film financing. Jeff began his career at Price Waterhouse in their entertainment special practice unit as a Certified Public Accountant. He holds a B.A. in Economics, from the University of California, Los Angeles. Marty Poole

Speaker headshot 6Marty has worked in the film business since 1994 with a diverse resume that includes writer, director, producer, and distribution executive. As a screenwriter Marty has had four scripts produced as feature films: Protecting The King, the true-life story of David E. Stanley, the stepbrother of Elvis Presley; Reptilian, a Korean/US film production acquired by Columbia Tri-Star for worldwide rights; Diamond Run, produced by Edgewood Studios; and Ground Rules, produced by Bottom Line Films. Marty co-produced the independent film Standing Still, starring James Van Der Beek, Mina Survari, Colin Hanks and Amy Adams (academy award nominee). Standing Still was released theatrically in the US in 2006. In addition to film, Marty's television experience includes producing and co-directing the outdoors action pilot, Ocean Hunters Extreme. Marty began his career in international film distribution and he has been employed by a variety of established film production/distribution companies in both sales and acquisitions. His extensive resume includes employment at Seoul/Los Angeles based Media Film International (VP Sales & Acquisitions), United International Film Corp. (President of Distribution), American World Pictures (VP Acquisitions), G.E.L Entertainment (Film & Sales Consultant), and Artist View Entertainment (International Sales Executive). Marty also consults for Rogue Arts, a US theatrical distribution company, and has programmed The Method Fest film festival in Los Angeles. Brad Littlefield

Speaker headshot 10Brad Littlefield has worked with successful high technology startups in California, as well as in film production and television. In 2008, he co-founded DAP Studios, and in 2009, he produced his first feature film, "Becoming Eduardo" (Seth Adkins, A Martinez, Elizabeth Pena), which was shot in New Mexico. "Becoming Eduardo" recently won Best Latino Film 2009 at the Santa Fe Film Festival, along with the prestigious New Mexico Filmmaker Award. It was recognized as Best New Mexican Film and Audience Choice at the 2010 White Sands International Film Festival. Brad's entertainment experience includes talent and casting for MTV Networks and project management for YouTube. He is currently working with Open Range Pictures on the feature films "Traveling Salesmen" and "Desert Water," and with Remote Films on "The Devil of Appalachia." His interest in public service has led to active participation with many non-profit organizations including The Los Angeles Gay and Lesbian Center's Legal Services Department, The San Mateo County Center for Domestic Violence Prevention and Performing Arts Studio West. Thomas Trenker

Past meetings have reliably delivered useful insights into the business of film, provided valuable networking opportunities and drawn large, enthusiastic crowds.
